Calculate the number of tiles needed to cover a floor or wall area, including a waste factor for cuts and breakage.
Does this calculator account for grout lines?
This calculator does not explicitly subtract for grout lines. However, the waste factor typically provides more than enough overage to account for the small space taken up by grout. For a more precise calculation, you could add the width of one grout line to your tile dimensions.
What type of tile should I use?
It depends on the application. Porcelain and ceramic tiles are excellent for floors and wet areas like bathrooms due to their durability and water resistance. Natural stone tiles like marble or slate are beautiful but may require more maintenance and sealing. Glass and decorative tiles are often used for backsplashes and accent walls.
