How to Use the OEE Calculator

1. Planned Production Time: Enter the total time the machine is scheduled for production (e.g., an 8-hour shift is 480 minutes).
2. Downtime: Input any unplanned stop time, such as breakdowns or material shortages.
3. Ideal Cycle Time & Total Count: Enter the theoretical fastest time to produce one part, and the total number of parts produced (including defects).
4. Good Count: Enter the number of parts that met quality standards.

Understanding OEE Components

OEE is a powerful metric because it breaks down productivity into three measurable factors:

• Availability: Measures losses due to downtime. Formula: (Planned Time - Downtime) / Planned Time.
• Performance: Measures losses due to running at less than the optimal speed. Formula: (Ideal Cycle Time × Total Count) / Run Time.
• Quality: Measures losses due to defective parts. Formula: Good Count / Total Count.

The final OEE score is the product of these three factors: OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality. A world-class OEE is typically considered to be 85% or higher.
