How It Works: The 1:8 Ratio

Travel in the Nether is 8 times faster than in the Overworld. This means for every 1 block you travel horizontally (X and Z axes) in the Nether, you cover the distance of 8 blocks in the Overworld. The Y-axis (height) is not affected.

Pro Tips for Nether Portals

Building a Nether Hub: To connect distant Overworld bases, build a network of portals in the Nether. Divide your Overworld coordinates by 8 to find the ideal spot for your portals in the Nether.
Finding Fortresses: Nether Fortresses tend to spawn in long strips along the North-South (Z-axis). If you can't find one, try traveling north or south.
Linking Portals: To ensure two portals link correctly, build them at the exact corresponding coordinates (Overworld X/8, Y, Z/8). If they are slightly off, the game might create a new, unwanted portal.
