Calculate the buying power of a certain amount of money in a different year. See how inflation has changed the value of money over time.
What is the CPI (Consumer Price Index)?
The CPI is a measure of the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services. It is the most widely used measure of inflation. This calculator uses historical annual average CPI data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
How are future years calculated?
Values for future years are projections. They are calculated by applying a fixed estimated annual inflation rate to the last known CPI data. This provides a general idea of future value but is subject to change based on actual economic conditions.
